From what I udnerstand, the SpellStopCasting() will no longer work without client input in 1.10. This means that CT RA's efficiency thing won't work any longer. Now..I can play without it, I did before. However, I have noticed my lag is getting worse and worse in instances and outside even. Often (I mean, at least once every couple of minutes, maybe more) I cast a spell, and my animation shows: Me casting spell. it's a 1.5 sec cast. 3 seconds later, it fianlly shows that I have cast the spell, or that is has failed. It's like small lock-ups. When this happens, I have no idea if the peron I'm healing got a heal and I should move to stop it or if I need to keep casting. Second lag related issue is that even if I do decide to stop casting, I move .5 seconds before the spell goes is complete, but lag prevents the movement for a second, so I cast it anyway. In effect, without any lag, I would have NO problems loosing this ability, but with it...I'm gonna be overhealing like mad reguardless. I have tried to stop a spell almost immideately upon casting, like the casting bar is 1/3 along or less, and STILL had it cast.
Is there anything I can do (macro/script) to preserve some form of mana conserve?
My husband says the lag is due to my wireless connection. I can't change it, or he can't at least. Does anyone else suffer these lag spikes? Anyone else think this is gonna make you go oom about 10x faster? Any advice?
If not..I'm never gonna be a good MT healer again. Stick me with the rogues and mages for all time, lol. |

1st, yeah the lag spikes have been known to happen to me, but usually only when someone on a different machine is doing some heavy downloading. May/may not relate (you've secured your network so the neighbors can't be on it, right?)
2nd, CTRA is client-side (that is, it's on your machine). If its mana conserve functionality is working thru the lag-spikes, it either isn't a network issue or it just reacts faster than you can when the traffic issue resolves because its fully automated.
3rd, they're stripping the "fully automated" aspect. However, the function will still exist. It sounds like it can still be used in macros. I wonder if putting it in a "/script" call within a macro would work? something to test.... |

.... yeah it can be done.
I've sent a suggestion to the CTMod folks on how to change their function so that it can be done, but worst case, could take their mod and tweak it
You'd build a macro stating the following:
/script if (CT_RAMenuMisc_CheckTargetHealth() == 1) then SpellStopCasting(); end
then you'd put the macro in a hotbar. once you'd cast your heal, you'd spam it as desired until the heal went off (yeah, in theory we could put an "else" in there and then it could be tied into your actual spell -- spam greater heal til it goes off -- the first click triggers the spell, the rest are making it doesnt need to be stopped).
the below is more for my info than anything === taken from file: CT_RAmenu.lua
function CT_RAMenuMisc_CheckTargetHealth() if ( not CT_RA_CurrCast or IsControlKeyDown() or not CT_RA_InCombat ) then return; end local v = CT_RAMenu_Options["temp"]["ClassHealings"][CT_RA_GetLocale()][UnitClass("player")][CT_RA_CurrCast[3]]; if ( v ) then if ( type(v) == "table" ) then if ( UnitExists(CT_RA_CurrCast[2]) and UnitHealthMax(CT_RA_CurrCast[2]) > 100 ) then if ( ( not CT_RAMenu_Options["temp"]["UsePercentValues"] and UnitHealth(CT_RA_CurrCast[2])-UnitHealthMax(CT_RA_CurrCast[2]) >= -v[3] and v[3] > 0 ) or ( CT_RAMenu_Options["temp"]["UsePercentValues"] and UnitHealth(CT_RA_CurrCast[2])/UnitHealthMax(CT_RA_CurrCast[2]) >= (v[5]/100) and v[5] ~= 100 ) ) then CT_RA_Print(" Aborted spell '|c00FFFFFF" .. CT_RA_CurrCast[1] .. "|r'.", 1, 0.5, 0); --remove the stop, mod the existing rtn, and add an else to return 0 -- SpellStopCasting(); return 1; else return 0; end end else if ( UnitExists(CT_RA_CurrCast[2]) and UnitHealthMax(CT_RA_CurrCast[2]) > 100 ) then if ( ( not CT_RAMenu_Options["temp"]["UsePercentValues"] and UnitHealth(CT_RA_CurrCast[2])-UnitHealthMax(CT_RA_CurrCast[2]) >= -v[3] and v[3] > 0 ) or ( CT_RAMenu_Options["temp"]["UsePercentValues"] and UnitHealth(CT_RA_CurrCast[2])/UnitHealthMax(CT_RA_CurrCast[2]) >= (v[5]/100) and v[5] ~= 100 ) ) then CT_RA_Print(" Aborted spell '|c00FFFFFF" .. CT_RA_CurrCast[1] .. "|r'.", 1, 0.5, 0); --remove the stop, mod the existing rtn, and add an else to return 0 -- SpellStopCasting(); return 1; else return 0; end end end end end

oh goody, so button mashing is the new mana conserve, lol. And Blizz thinks this will make for a less bott-like healer? rofl
Ah well, at least it can be done :-) Thanks for finding that out for me Sabre. I'm sure CT RA will have something in there with their update for 1.10. Good to know :-)
I'm glad some of you understand this stuff...I should learn more about it, but well, it's just not my cup of tea I guess. Thanks again for taking the time to look this up :-) |

Not saying its great, but with the up-and-coming "hardware interaction required" (that's keyboard or mouse) it's gonna be buttonmashing or doing without. |

Yup, I'm prepared to become a button masher :-) And if the lag get's better, than I'll do without. Either way, I appriciate you taking the time to look up and explain to me. Makes me feel better :-) |

NVidia albeit an older one now at Geforce 4 Ti 4600.
I've noticed an slight upswing in lag of late myself, not sure where it's coming from. I know I've added more mods lately and am curious if things like GEM and others might be causing a slow down... just a thought. |

Slightly off topic but as we're on the subject of mods... the new "required" battle planner mod seems a bit bloated comming in at 1 and a half megs.
As for lag, I have an nVidia 5900 card, a gig of ram, and I'm on wireless. I'm really only seeing lag in places like IF and such. I know that CT_raid was causing some killer lag a few versions ago so I wouldn't be surprised if some other mod wasn't the culpret in this case. |

O know a very large portion of the battle panner mod is the images it pulls up. At least those are not running all the time they are just in the folder for the mod sorta like in atlas. Video card nVidia 7800 with 512 ram on it. 1.5 gig in system. I turn the graphics way down in MC cause that place just gets way too laggy if i dont. Plus i have peoples names turned off. Just too ugly if i dont. Plus that way if i click on someone in the raid windows to find them their name is the only one i see . |

Yep, my graphics are turned WAY down for MC. I also tend to zoom to first person and stare at the ground. This helps a bit, but not a lot.
I've seen a lot of complaints on the WoW forums about his. I think that high population servers are all having this problem. If there are 2 or more raid groups in a large instance at any given time, it makes that instance lag. Hence...why AQ with 20 people is even laggier than MC, because more people are going in there because it's new...at least I think.

Kalmir: if you're able to, check your out. see if there is a port forwarding option in your router. if there, it should look something like this: http://www.reveredsystems.com/images/routerhelp.gif |

I (fortuneately) don't get constant lag. I get random lag that varries from a split seccond huccup (ne big deal there) to a 10 second spike that locks me up while casting. This happens about 10 times an hour in MC. When I am soloing or duo farming, it happens maybe 2 or 3 times an hour. It's Blizz..not me, and it's instances more than anything. The full 10 seocond thing is honestly pretty rare. I would say most of the spikes last about...3 or 4 seconds?? Still, in MC as a healer, this is problamatic. I'm working around it though :-)

Stolen Mana Conserve Macro for 1.10: /script if CastingBarFrame.casting and UnitHealth("target") / ( UnitHealthMax("target") / 100 ) > 80 then SpellStopCasting() elseif not CastingBarFrame.casting then CastSpellByName("Lesser Healing Wave(Rank #)") end http://ui.worldofwar.net/macros.php?id=153 |
