wow, I have NO idea what to do.  For a 5man to 20 man spec that is. Heavier into Disc or holy now?  Both trees have some new interesting stuff.  I could almost get my old spec, but that seems silly to miss out on the new goodies.
Anyone?  The priest official forums are just a wine fest with no useful info, lol.

I’m just going to work on Level 60 template options as a response so that I can avoid all the complex possibilities of level 70 templates. We have plenty of time to figure that out later.

Important new milestone talents for Lvl 60 Healing/Raid Support Priests:

1. Improved Divine Spirit
This requires 23 points total in the Discipline Tree. It gives your team members (And yourself) a very nice bonus of +healing AND +spell damage in the amount of 10% of their spirit. Divine Spirit was a staple talent in the past. Might as well spend 2 more talent points and get this great buff.

There’s so many good talents to get on the way to this one, it’s hard to avoid spending 23 points in Discipline for now IMO.

2. Spirit of Redemption
This isn’t a new talent. Blizzard added an irresistible carrot to tempt Holy Priests though. It still does the whole angel after you die and you get to cast heals for free for 15 seconds deal. That was marginally useful before. Patch 2.0.1 added a buff to it. It now increases your total Spirit by 5%!!!!! That’s pretty nice for 1 talent point. You have enough points to get here AND have Improved Divine Spirit. It’s hard to pass up that combination.

3. Holy Specialization + Inspiration
It’s hard to get all the way down to Spirit of Redemption without putting points into these two for the massive +armor boost to your main tank from heal criticals. If you dodge all the PVP-oriented talents and just go for ones that help you heal and provide raid utility, you can’t really avoid it.

Assuming you want Improved Divine Spirit AND Spirit of Redemption, here’s my template I picked:

Discipline (23 points)
5/5 Unbreakable Will (or Wand Spec if you want to avoid Onyxia deaths)
3/5 Silent Resolve
2/2 Improved Power Word: Fortitude
1/3 Absolution
1/1 Inner Focus
3/3 Meditation
5/5 Mental Agility
1/1 Divine Spirit
2/2 Improved Divine Spirit
Holy (21 points)
2/2 Healing Focus
3/3 Improved Renew
5/5 Holy Specialization
4/5 Divine Fury
3/3 Inspiration
3/3 Improved Healing
1/1 Spirit of Redemption

PLEASE NOTE: This leaves 7 points free. Here are good choices for the remainder depending on your personal tastes:

2 more points in Absolution for 3/3 full benefits
Mental Strength for larger mana pool (not as important with good gear)
1 more point in Divine Fury to finish that out at 5/5
Holy Nova for 1 point. While not important purely for healing. It’s fun.
2 points in Healing Prayers (one of my favorites) for group heals
Spiritual Guidance for even more bonuses from your Spirit
Spiritual Healing for a pure +Healing boost

Here is what I look like after my respec:

Discipline (23 points)
5/5 Unbreakable Will
3/5 Silent Resolve
2/2 Improved Power Word: Fortitude
1/3 Absolution
1/1 Inner Focus
3/3 Meditation
5/5 Mental Agility
1/1 Divine Spirit
2/2 Improved Divine Spirit
Holy (28 points)
2/2 Healing Focus
3/3 Improved Renew
5/5 Holy Specialization
4/5 Divine Fury
1/1 Holy Nova
3/3 Inspiration
3/3 Improved Healing
2/2 Healing Prayers
1/1 Spirit of Redemption
1/5 Spiritual Guidance
3/5 Spiritual Healing

There are 3 kinds of talents:

1. Really awesome ones you build a talent template around.

2. Average ones that are nice to grab on the way to awesome talents.

3. Worthless ones that really aren't a good use of points.

Inspiration to me is one of those average talents. The biggest problem is its random nature. You can't decide when it will go off because it proc's on healing criticals. When it does though, wow! A 25% increase in armor. That's easily 2,000+ more armor for most decently geared level 60 main tanks.

The biggest issue in favor of Inspiration is the arrangement of talents in the Holy tree. If you are trying to push down past 20 or 25 points in this tree as a pure group/raid healing priest (not worried about PvP or Smite damage output), there are only a few talents to pick. Inspiration is a natural place to put points in order to break into the higher tier talents in Holy.
