I am trying to get a general consensus of the best stats on armor in TBC, for warrior.

I am going to be playing dakaron a little more often here, and im trying to figure out what i need to be looking for other than armor/sta.

defense? is this more important than armor?

resilliance? what is this even on?

let me know ladies and gents, id like to do shopping only 1 time LOL

I'm assuming you're a tank....

Defense: Eventually, you need 475. supposedly that's enough. Way likes round #s though, so he has 500

Resilliance = less likely to be crit (someone? correct me if i'm wrong, but that's what I remember for some reason): defense also helps in this area, so i don't know if we care a lot.

Strength: You need it. It helps your block rate, it helps how much dmg you block. More blocked = less for your healer to heal.

parry/dodge: not getting hit is a wonderful thing (supposedly agility helps this a little, but in the bang-for-the-buck category, skip agility)

Resists to magic trees: very situational, but just as MC required 300+ FR, some of the new places require absurd amounts of various resists. Take a look at the patterns you can get from factions -- nature, arcane, and fire look like they're going to be biggies.

5/35/21 will be my level 70 spec, at least thats my "estimate" a bit more than mid damage, and a little more than crappy tank. just enough defensive ability's to take more damage.

sorry dun know how to make this a link, its for the spec i am looking at. got it from ten ton hammer. of course i wont do this exactly because there are a couple of these things i dont think i need.

Sabre is right about the purpose of Resilliance. It's like a form of crit resistance. I'm not an expert on tanking, but i'm thinking that is an important stat. My novice knowledge of it would place it after Defense in the order of importance for tanking. I'm thinking a lot of mobs in endgame instances do a lot of criticals.

Tref, note that defense also reduces crit-chance (below stolen from http://www.wowwiki.com/Combat_Rating_System)

"every 25 points of defense skill grants a 1% dodge chance, 1% parry chance, 1% block chance, 1% increased chance to be missed and 1% decreased chance to be critically hit by physical attacks" (note that this is at lvl 60 -- takes a bit more at lvl 70).

Here's the copy/paste on resillience: "Resilience is a special new rating which was created to reduce the effects of critical hits against your character. It has two components; it reduces the chance you will be critically hit by x%, and it reduces the damage dealt to you by critical hits by 2x%. x is the percentage resilience granted by a given resilience rating. "

================
bottom line, both are nice, but i'll take defense before resillience. Heck, I'd probably take strength before resillience as well.....

500 Defense? Whatever do you mean? *looks around*

Sabre pretty much nailed the key pointers for armor and defense, but lets not forget to shoot for some HP as well at certain points since it helps immensely to have a nice bundle of it for those long fights...

Dak mentioned armor and stam in his original post.

Since we're on the topic though, what #s should be sought in those areas? >10K on each?

Aye least 10K armor and 10K health, but with some enchants you should be able to attain some of these numbers without blues (and you dont even need blues to hit those numbers)

right now im spec'ed at 5/36/11, i have 5298 armor with no shield, and 5682 health, this is at level 61. I havn't done any instances yet (because i suxorz as a tank right now) and so i havn't gotten any "GOOD" upgrades to weapons/armor yet, other than drops/quest/AH. Sunday i have some help coming in this way at least for a couple of instances in HFP so i should get at least 1 good blue out of those runs. /cross fingers with the right drops more than one. I know all you guys are speced for main tanking. but because i do most of my playing solo style i am trying to do more damage. Perhaps with some weapon upgrades and a shield upgrade i could prolly do me some switcharoo on spec.

Does devistate allow you to do some decent damage as a prot spec war?
Or does it take you an hour to kill one mob solo?

Devistate was a nice bonus that does decent damage and also increases aggro , because of course you DO want the boss/mob to be focused on you for at least 98% of the fight. leveling up, with the spec you are is fine, when you start getting higher and bigger dungeons, you will want to ease in a few more points into protection to get better defenses / stats because to a certain point, even with good gear the bosses will still hit you like a mach truck.

ok thanks a lot for the information you all, next is trying to figure out how to get my "tanking" skills back up to par.....big difference from tanking in wow...and tanking in EQ.......at least the principles are the same. protect the priest, gain aggro, turn the mob the right direction, OH and protect the priest!!!!!!!! oh, gain more aggro....and by ALL means PROTECT the priest!!!!!!!!!

I have run with Dak, I thought the motto was run around all over gathering mobs as you go then run back to where the priest is so she gets your aggro from healing you and she dies   But I have to say you learned from the best aggro magnet Puga!!  LOL
