As some of you may know, I have a druid alt. I made him out of boredom when Rikuu was 70 and nothing had to be done. And over the years I have come to dislike melee combat. I'm looking to build me a Boomkin druid (mostly for soloing) until i get him to 70 and then I would spec him for pvp/pve. He is only 40 at the moment so if you have any better suggestions, (stay feral until #lvl etc.) Im open to whatever you got ;)
I am Prince Rikuu
The Son of Jeidynzon
Little Brother of Blueneph
The Nephew of Saphyreblade and Shadowstride
The Geat and Almighty descendant of Puga
70 Hunter -Rikuu- Wipe apprentice
56 (growing) Druid -Troa- {Healy and ready to mistarget}

Play the specc that you want to play, but I suggest playing them all at some point in time to really learn the class. Io is a boomkin right now. Feral is great for PvP and farming at higher levels, but I wouldn't recommend it until after 50 because the gear choices before that are few and far between. =( (They're fixing that this Tuesday, so you might want to check on the gear updates for 40-49 instances =P) BRD and Dire Maul have your best options for 50+ leather gear for feral. Leveling resto is painful. Boomkin is more mana/downtime intensive, but you can dish out some decent damage. I definitely suggest leveling feral once you hit 60. =D

But being you are getting sick of melee, you probably wouldn't want to do feral after you are done leveling. =)
I'd roll 41/11/xx for boomkin after you ding 70.

Io - 72 Balance Druid
Oryx - 70 Combat Rogue ~ Aero - 71 BM Hunter
Tichelle - 58 Bank Toon ~ Confess - 64 Tank DK
Haelo - 60 Ret Paladin ~ Aeyo - 40 Balance Druid
Kraytius - 64 Holy Paladin ~ Estasha - 5 Holy Priest

Kwestura & Pianissima - Lvl 1 Hordelings

The AFK Queen.

My main on another server is Balance/Resto, and I never tried to level as feral. Of course, that was mostly due to a lack of interest in looking at bear butt all day. Anyway, I agree that leveling as resto is hard (mostly time-consuming...I'll hit you with my stick, and keep healing myself! You can't kill me, but it will only take me 2 hours to kill you!) IMO, moonkin is the way to go. The set itself is nice, and the buff to party is awesome too.

Tips while leveling...get leather gear. I know it sounds silly, but you'll find some cloth pieces that are very tempting. They are fine for group questing, but the armor bonus is very nice if you're DPSing/tanking/healing all by yourself. Also, typhoon is your friend! Knocking back enemies will save your butt on more than one occasion, and knocking them off of cliffs/buildings/etc. is not only effective, but also hilarious!

A website that I've found to be very helpful is Elitist Jerks (http://elitistjerks.com/f47/t66856-...fessions). First of all, I have no stake in that site, I just love it to pieces. It's written with end-game raiding in mind, but the ideas are pretty applicable to leveling too.

As far as stats go, hit rating is #1 until you hit every time. You can have tons of spell power, but it's useless if every shot is a whiff. After that, go for spell power and crit.
