I’ve recently attained 375 Jewelcrafting skill and would like to offer to cut gems for anyone who would like.

 

I can currently cut the uncommon & rare gems.  As I skill up further and gain more designs I’ll update this list.  Feel free to drop a gem in the mail to Kemel with a request and it will be promptly mailed back cut to your specifications.

Gem Cutting

I'm curious. Have other people found a lot of good socketed items yet? My priest is just a couple bars from lvl 65, and i've vendoreded the few socketed quest rewards or drops i've come across so far.

Maybe it's just because I do a lot of dungeon runs with my priest? I dunno. I have picked up some pretty nice pieces so far from Hellfire and Zangramarsh dungeons. None of them are socketed and they are better than the few socketed pieces i have come across.

I've thrown out almost all my old pre-TBC purples. I only kept Benediction Staff, Robes of Prophecy and Halo of Transcendence. I only use those when I am primary healer in a 5-person dungeon.

My guess is that between 65 and 70 I will see more socketed items. It's just a hunch looking at the game mechanics and stats on items. There's a huge stat bump going from Azeroth gear to TBC gear. We all know that. Then it tapers off and slowly rises. I can see how they might be using the sockets as an alternate way of continuing gear progression without just adding more stats explicitly to the items -- it allows customization. So first you get better gear, then as you near level 70 you start collecting the better gear with the added bonus of being able to customize it.

seems like that to me so far too. I've gotten like 2 socketed items, both of which were terrible compared to unsocketed EASIER quest rewards/instance drops. Eventually blue drops/rewards and purple drops/rewards will be socketed and such, till then...save up the gems. I've gotta say that similar things occured in Diablo 2 with regard to socketed items...very rarely were they as good as non-socketed items, except in exceedingly rare situations. But, on Blizzard's side, if a socketed item already had stats comparable to its unsocketed cousin...there would be a game balance issue.

Another update with the +8 Parry Rating gem... thanks again to Saphyreblade, Shadowstride, Chrily, Canallron and all the wonderful folks in Res who have been helping out.

Please don't hesitate to ask for any uncommon cut gems because I have a large stash of numerous gems precut or could cut any needed from a stockpile that has been created by your guildies.

On Bigshot I've got about half of my items with sockets(that's at level 70, with a fair number of instances run) but you won't see alot of sockets until you start to collect your dungeon 3 set (valor/dreadwrap/shadowcraft lvl 70 versions), or tier 4, which comes from Karazahn and the first 25-man raid, Gruul's Lair. (on a side note, Meta Gem slots ONLY appear in helmets)

As for gems, I have a ton sitting around in my bank, I'll send them your way if you need some more kemel =P

I'm setting good on most uncommon gems right now but would love to cut any to spec. for anyone that needs.

Also any gems that are sent will be saved for guild requests.

Ok, but just be sure to request some GEMs cut... need to ship these out to guildies who need them.

Is there a website that has all the gems, what you can cut them into (specific names), and what the bonuses are? I've tried poking aroung thottbot and wowhead, but the lists were not very print-able. Most of the info came up in hoover-over popup windows (or whatever you call it). That works fine as a web page, but not an offline printed reference.

Just found a patern for +9 Spell Penetration today so updated my list... thanks again for all the suport I keep getting.

Dv just posted this on another thread. Its a complete list of gems and what they do. Its pretty big. We should have them tied together in my humble princess opinion. (smiles)
