As most of us know Winter Veil is about a week away. For all of us hopelessly addicted to achievements there will be plenty for us to do. To help save on headaches I've compiled as much information as I could dig up to ease the holiday achievement gathering, and hopefully, we'll see some 'Merrymaker' titles following us all into the new year.

Most information is based off of previous years' Winter Veil events and is subject to change. I'll do my best to update with any changes that may occur. Also, as a note, this page will most likely contain spoilers - so if you would like to figure it out on your own you might want to avoid reading on. You have been warned ^_^.

The Feast of Winter Veil event will be commencing at 6:00 am server time, Monday, December 15th and running until 6:00 am server time, Friday, January 2nd.

The 'Merrymaker' achievement is one of 7 achievements required to be completed throughout the year to earn the achievement 'What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been' (which will grant you a shiny new Purple Proto-Drake).

The 'Merrymaker' achievement consists of 12 sub-achievements. These achievements are listed below with details on how to obtain completion on each.

'On Metzen!'
Goal:
-Quest: Metzen the Reindeer
Details:
-Quest obtained at level 40 from Wulmort Jinglepocket in Ironforge (located in front of the Ironforge bank).
-You will be provided with a Smokywood Satchel.
-Contents of the stachel are;

'With a Little Helper from My Friends'
Goal:
Earn 50 honorable kills as a Little Helper from the Winter Wondervolt machine.
Details:
-Wondervolt machines are located in most major cities. Stormwind's is located near the flightpoint for example.
-Not much information is available at present. There is speculation that the 'Little Helper' buff will persist through death this year. If not (and I personally feel that it would be unlikely), this will be a very difficult achievement and take a fair amount of time and many, many battlegrounds to complete.

*note* This achievement is a play on words for a most excellent Beatles song, 'With a Little Help From My Friends' also the theme song used on The Wonder Years

'Scrooge'
Goal:
-Throw a snowball at King Magni Bronzebeard during the Feast of Winter Veil.
Details:
-Obtain snowball from an engineer with a snowball machine or the AH (in the past there has also been snow available in the Alterac Mountians. It appears a an item you can pick up off of the ground)
-Throw 'said snowball' at Kind Magni Bronzebeard in Ironforge

*note* Engineers with the ability to make snowballs for the guild might wish to post a reply and let everyone know. I understand that there is a 24 hour cooldown after 1 snowball is produced and takes one Refreshing Spring Water per snowball.

'Fa-la-la-la-Ogri'la'
Goal:
Complete the Bomb Them Again! quest while mounted on a flying reindeer during the Feast of Winter Veil.
Details:
-This achievement requires access to the Ogri'la dailies (must have finished the Ogri'la rep. quest chain), a flying mount and the skill to use the flying mount.
-Use Preserved Holly (obtained from the Metzen quest) to transform your mount into a reindeer mount
-Complete the Bomb Them Again! quest in Blades Edge Mountains

''Tis the Season'
Goal:
During the Feast of Winter Veil, wear 3 pieces of winter clothing and eat Graccu's Mince Meat Fruitcake.
Details:
-Hats in 2007 were obtained 100% of the time through killing select Outland bosses. There is speculation that this year they will drop from select Northrend bosses. These can also drop from any mob in the game (similar chance to that of a rare superior item).

-Must wear:
-Red Winter Hat: -Green Winter Hat:-Red Winter Clothes or Green Winter Clothes, crafted by tailors.
4x Bolt of Runecloth
1x Bolt of Woolen Cloth
2x Red Dye or 2x Green Dye
1x Rune Thread
and
-Winter Boots, crafted by leather workers.
1x Copper Bar
1x Bolt of Woolen Cloth
4x Rugged Leather
1x Rune Thread

-The fruitcake is reported to show up in your mailbox as a gift aprox. 3 days after saving Metzen the reindeer.

*note* Any tailors and leather workers that have these patterns and would be available to produce a few if mats were provided - please reply to this post.

'Crashin' and Thrashin''
Goal:
Gain 25 crashes with your Crashin' Thrashin' Racer
Details:
-Not much information is available at this time
-Should be safe to assume that it will be similar to a Tonk
-Will post more information when available

'Simply Abominable'
Goal:
Complete the quest to retrieve the stolen Smokywood Pastures' stolen treats and receive a Smokywood Pastures' Thank You.
Details:
-Quest chain obtained at level 30 from Wulmort Jinglepocket in Ironforge (located in front of the Ironforge bank).
-Further quest details below under the 'A Frosty Shake' achievement

'Let it Snow'
Goal:
During the Feast of Winter Veil, use a Handful of Snowflakes on each of the race/class combinations listed below.

Orc Death Knight

Tauren Shaman

Undead Rogue

Gnome Mage

Blood Elf Warlock

Human Warrior

Night Elf Druid

Troll Hunter

Dwarf Paladin

Draenei Priest

Details:
-Another achievement with very little information to go on
-Probably safe to assume that the Handfulls of Snow will be obtainable from Smokeywood Pastures.
-As with one of the Hollow's End events, contested cities, namely Dalaran, will probably be the best places to go to finish this achievement.

'Bros. Before Ho Ho Ho's'
Goal:
Use Mistletoe on the Alliance "Brothers" during the Feast of Winter Veil.
Details:
Brother Nimetz in Stranglethorn Vale

Brother Wilhelm in Goldshire

Brother Kristoff in Stormwind

Brother Crowley in Stormwind

Brother Benjamin in Stormwind

'The Winter Veil Gourmet'
Goal:
During the Feast of Winter Veil, use your culinary expertise to produce a Gingerbread Cookie, Egg Nog and Hot Apple Cider.
Details:
-These three recipes will be available for purchase from Smokeywood Pastures durring the Feast of Winter Veil event.
-To cook all three dishes a cooking skill level of 325 and the following regents will be required; two Small Egg's, one Ice Cold Milk, one Sparkling Apple Cider (Smokeywood Pastures), two Holiday Spirits (Smokeywood Pastures), and three Holiday Spices (Smokeywood Pastures)
-From personal experience, get out and farm the egg's early. After the event hits it will be hectic trying to farm the low level mobs. And you'll probably want to save your money rather then resorting to the AH. Can you say "1+ gold per egg"?

'He Knows If You've Been Naughty'
Goal:
Open one of the presents underneath the Winter Veil tree once they are available.
Details:
Presents are reported to be available the morning of December 25th. And are also reported to remain available until the end of the event on January 2nd.
Completion:
Can't find substantial details on what you obtain from the presents this year. However there is a 2008 Feat of Strength achievement reported for owners of a Crashin' Thrashin' Racer. Which is a possible, low drop rate item.

'A Frosty Shake'
Goal:
/dance in dalaran as a snowman, with another player dressed as a snowman
Details:
Appears that 24 hours after completing the following quest chain you will be mailed a toy that transforms you into a snowman.
Stolen Winter Veil Treats
-Quest obtained at level 30 from Wulmort Jinglepocket in Ironforge (located in front of the Ironforge bank).
-Locate the Smokywood Pastures investigator. He appears as the Strange Snowman (co-ords 35, 72) in Growless Cove, Southwest Alterac Mountains between 3 trees.
You're a Mean One...
-Quest obtained at level 30 from the Strange Snowman (co-ords 35, 72) in Growless Cove, Southwest Alterac Mountains
-Kill The Abominable Greench and recover the Stolen Treats
-Can spawn in any of the Yeti locations in Alterac Mountains. Spawn time reported to be aprox. 5 minutes (though I'm sure with more or less people in the are the spawn time will change).
-Uses the same model as the Yeti's in the area - just larger and darker.
-If competing for the kill; it is recommended to create a macro /target Abominable Greench
-If waiting for a respawn; it is recommended to kill the Yeti's in the area as the Greench will spawn in one of their locations.
-Return the Stolen Treats to Wulmort Jinglepocket in Ironforge.
A Smokywood Pastures' Thank You!
-Quest obtained at level 30 from Wulmort Jinglepocket in Ironforge (located in front of the Ironforge bank).
-Go talk to Greatfather Winter (also located in front of the Ironforge bank).
Rewards:
Smokywood Pastures Special Gift (this gift appears to usually be a holiday themed profession recipe, plan, etc.)
1850-9250 XP
Steamwheedle Cartel +250
(some rumors state that you will need to complete all available Winter Veil quests before the Snowman suit toy will be mailed, but this appears unconfirmed). *note* The snowman suit will require a snowball to use.

For any achievements left without solid information. I will update it as soon as some information becomes available - though that might not be until after the event has started.

This is a handy write up... I know I'll be referencing this as the season starts up. :)

The patterns are obtainable only during the winter veil festival. My LW is able to make the boots and my tailor is able to make the red outfit. I did not get the green last year. I will hope for that one this year :) If anyone wants them, even in advance of the festivities, please let me know and I will be happy to make them for you. I do not have mats since they require lower level mats, so you will need to provide them.

Use the following macro to get two rewards per hour instead of one:

/kiss
/targetlasttarget
/kiss

Click one reveler, then the other, then hit this macro. You get two debuffs and two rewards.

To earn Mistletoe and Snowflakes (as well as other seasonal goodies, Fresh Holly for example). Find a Winter Reveler located in an inn, target them and use the /kiss emote.

The Stormwind 'Brothers' locations are:

Brother Kristoff stands outside the Cathedral near the fountain/statue. He is on the side nearest to the Cathedral and stands facing the Cathedral.

Brother Benjamin patrols the main room of the Cathedral. He is dressed in a white hooded robe.

Brother Joshua is a priest trainer located at the far end of the main room in the Cathedral.

Brother Cassius is a regent vendor located inside the Cathedral. First room on the right. Wearing a white robe.

Brother Crowley, the Scarlet Crusade Emissary, is downstairs under the Cathedral. Second hallway to the right inside the Cathedral - a path drops down into the crypts. He's wearing red with a scarlet crusade tabard on.

Other brothers:

Brother Wilhelm is located behind the armor vendors in Goldshire. Next to the Warrior trainer.

Brother Nimetz is located in the Rebel Camp in northern Stranglethorn Vale.

Brother Karman is located in Thermore. He is inside the city on the right-hand side of the entrance to the big keep, near the training dummies.

Brother Anton is located in Nijel's Point in Desolace.

[Green Winter Clothes]

The Alliance is favored with the Red Winter Clothes outfit and pattern.

Likewise the Horde is favored with the Green Winter Clothes outfit and pattern.

Both patterns are BoP so you have to purchase them from the Smokeywood Pastures vendor that supplies them.

Out of curiosity, to see if I would be able to interact and purchase the Green Winter Clothes pattern, I ran Kymarah into Orgrimarr today. Using Invisibility to get past the initial guards I mounted up and made a straight shot towards the vendor (Not too far in, almost straight as you enter, near the AH and greatfather winter). Success! I was able to interact with the vendor. Also at this point - i was noticed by surrounding Horde not to mention the guards that had been following me...I barely purchased the pattern (50 silver) before being killed.

Feel free to send Kymarah mats if you would like some Green Winter Clothes
