For those of you prepairing yourselves for the Molten Core Experience, you probably know well that a good supply of fire resistance gear is quite useful.  After all, it is liquid hod magma we are talking about here, without all that great fire resistance gear how can you swim there?

Well here is a quest line you can start in your late 50's that will land you a decent ring to imprint on a Firelords face when he vomits in your general direction

You can start farming Hydraxian waterlord faction by wasting non water elementals (e.g. earth air fire i believe). just check your combat log to see your faction improvements.  If you just want to do some farming for faction before starting the quests hit up silithus and waste the elementals there.

Go to Azshara and Locate Duke Hydraxis, a rather large elite water elemental dude with friends.

He starts you off on the quest called Poisoned Water.

Just keep returning to him to continue the quest chain.  It will lead you to a point where you have to farm Honored Faction with the Duke.  Molten Core runs will take care of this (thats the name of the quest for the faction farming btw ).

Its followed up by Hands of the enemy where you collect hands from the boss mobs you encounter allong MC runs.   After you complete the hands quest you can get the water required to extinguish the runes to summon Major Domo.  And you have to summon Major Domo and beat his guards to get to ragnaros.

the last quest lands you a +15 Fire resist ring with some stats 2 to choose from, one for melee and one for casters.

Thanks for the information! I've known generally about this, but I haven't spent the time to really look at it in detail. It sure seems like a good idea to do the pre-req steps now so that I can start building faction and collecting the parts.

Bumping this for those new to MC

The ring is seriously good for upping your FR for those important encounters. It is also important to finish the line so you have an Aqual Quintessence in your possesion when you attend MC. We have to douse all the runes with that to summon Majordomo. Not enough people bring the essence? No treats from Domo's goodie bag (aka the chest).

Just make sure to start the quest and do the initial steps in Silithus and stuff.  You will get the Hyrdaxian Waterlords rep in no time running MC with SLACK.  You don't have to go out extra to farm the rep killing elementals outside MC.

I'll have to try and run through the quest series in the next week. So do we try and have one person on this quest each night? Is that how the runes work, or is it repeatable?

Getting the water to put out the runes is repeatable.  Once you finish the quest chain, you can go out to him at any time and get more.  Only one at a time per person though.

I have a flask of the rune water in my bank... I keep forgeting to take it along to MC 

yeah. that was a recent update (1.10 or 1.11). Once you are Exalted with Hydraxian Waterlords, he gives you special flask. You don't have to go see him every time to get a new one. The special flask has a cooldown timer. My priest is almost there to Exalted.

Special flask = use once an hr (you can wipe more than one rune per raid -- i've done it).
