What is a NetFlix Friend?

For anyone set up as a "friend", it layers on the ability to see how others rated movies or what others have checked out. The wife and I have family and some RL friends set up in Netflix - it provides an interesting way to see what others are renting or what others have thought of a movie you're thinking of renting. ;)

Ahh...so you get to see what a true freak I am by the movies I rent. I get it now :)

Wow - so NetFlix says we're only 42% similar. I would have thought we would have been much closer in similarity.

My daughter has ordered a lot of films from there in the past. Her choices are not always mine.

As a note, one thing you can do with NetFlix (my wife and I do this) is you can actually maintain separate lists and have disc allocations to them. I don't know if you know about it, but it's pretty darn cool (I bring this up as an FYI only :) ).

At the moment, we have our allocation split to one disc for me, two discs for her (she watches more movies/shows than I do), and one disc to a 'series' queue (here is where we keep TV seasons, to prevent a couple series discs from shipping at the same time taking up time at home).

Having different lists allows us to have separate ratings and separate queues - managing how many discs are there for a particular person. This worked out quite well for my wife's family, where her mother and father have VERY different tastes and her father tended to pop everything he was interested in 'to the top of the queue'.

I did not know that. It would have been great when she lived with me. But she has gone off to college and only visits once or twice a year now. I will look into that so that in the future though. It sounds like a nifty lil program they have going. And all this time I thought it was just a huge video rental place...lol =P

BTW...the vampire and comic book hero movies are mine...lol

hehe...lots of delightful features to discover. Netflix is da awesomeness.

One other thing - have you noticed the 'Play Now' feature to stream movies to the PC? Lots of TV shows (e.g., 30 Rock, Dead Like Me, etc) available that way, plus movies (and a couple standup vids). And now you can play the movies to a 360 via Media Center...which is pretty cool.

s'okay - I gots lots o comic book movies as well - not many vampire films (although I have Bela Lagosi in my queue!). ;)
