Ok so to start this out
1. it's 7 am I am bored and there is Very Few peps on in the Guild Atm
2. yes i am Going to be gettin a machine and Putting Window Vista Ultimate on it
3. Reasons i am doing this
  •  I sell the Crap I should know it
  • I am Really Bored and need a New PC to play wow on
  • My Current System Consists of
    1. AMD 64 3200+ Socket 754 Processor
    2. 1GB of DDR 400/333 RAM (in 3 sticks)
    3. X1600 AGP Video card 512MB of Ram on it thou!
    4. Lots of HDD I have 920 GB to be Precise
    5. My Lowly DVD burner
    6. Windows XP Professional
    7. My Cooler Master CMstacker case (Nicest part)
Why am i doing this and why am i making such a Big Deal (or so it seems) of this ? Well It's Quite Simple Really Intel Offered me a Heck of a Deal and I opted to take it since work is giving me a copy Of Vista Ultimate and a Copy of Office 2007 for Free cause i am a Vista Pro ( go figure the Biggest Apple computer Barker in the Store and i get made a Vista Pro and I hadn't touched the Software)  basically what this means is that you all have Full on Rights to Flame the Living Daylights out of me for getting Vista as much of an Apple Supporter As I am besides I want to hear Dhrys Reaction to the Board I am gettin and such.

New System Will consist of these items
  • The Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor 1.83GHz 2MB L2 Cache 1066Mhz FSB
  • The DG965WH Mother board
  • X1650 PCI-X Video Card
  • 2 GBs of DDR2 Ram
  • Same Case
  • Some other Old parts
  • Windows Vista Ultimate
And beside the Ram and the Video Card it's gonna Cost me 220 bucks Hence the ahh heck i will do it from me.

So now i say Flame on if you wish or Say cool or what Ever I am just kinda Not gonna say anything

Ah yes... glad to see you're slowly leaving the dark forest of Apple and leaving the tainted fruit to rot on the groud instead of eatting it worms and all. *silly grins*

Nice upgrade in hardware - I'm still running a machine I've had for about four years - 2.4 GHz P4, 1GB RAM, and a nice ATI 512 MB video card.

We'll probably be adding a PC rather than replacing the current one - getting something that looks like a stereo component and setting it up with Media Center/Vista Ultimate in the living room, plugging it into the tele...and then continuing to use the current machine to do Photoshop/digital development and other tasks that are just not conducive to a 10' viewing experience (working 10' from the screen). BTW - gaming on a 51" HD widescreen with surround sound is an interesting experience.

*drools* *thinks for a minute* then looks at Shadow and bats her eyelashes "Honey, Don't you want a 51" HD widescreen to watch football on for valentines day"

In the spirit of this thread, I decided to take a shot at this again....

Ubuntu Linux 6.10 (Edgy EFT)
Beta Nvidia Drivers (upgraded)
WoW (running through WINE)

all up running pretty dang smooth!

Ubuntu has given me a few problems- there's a few bugs in the install, with gnome, firefox and gnome updater- they all seems to spontaniously crash whenever they feel like it...

but WoW is running at +40 fps and that's all that realls matters.

LOL- ok the INSTALL WAS A PAIN! THE RANDOM CRASHING WAS A PAIN!!!

Want to know why? A service called "CPU Frequency Manager (powernowd)"... all I would have needed to from the menu was, "System>Administration>Services" and click a check box!!!!!!

For some reason this is a default service; it scales down your cpu frequency, sometimes it's very unstable. So yeah, after dealing with all kinds of crap, I happen upon a forum thread... sounded promising and it worked! It's ROCK SOLID!!!

Everything's perfectly stable, just have to get sound working in both vent/WoW- because I'm using WINE to run them, they cannot share the same sound service. There are some easy work arounds. Everything is Gnometastic Gnow! (WoW plays nice!)
