Does anyone know if Blizzard plans to add more Plate armor with some INT to it? Moving over to plate so the mobs aren't hitting me so badly has dropped my mana 1/3 or more. I did a search on Thottbot for plate armor with INT from levels 40-45 and only found two blue items that you need Revered with Arathor to get. Was the search screwy or is there really no plate armor with int?

Whats really strange is there is a ton of plate with agility on it. Since warriors and pallys can only wear plate I'd think they would use Str, sta, and int gear.

Hmmm... I am trying to remember what chest piece my 58 paladin is wearing. It is Blue and I've had it for a while. I can't remember at the moment though.

You are correct though, not a lot of good plate armor itemizatio for Pallies.

I've always taken good mail items and used them in my armor mix as I leveled up.  You usually don't miss too much armor.  There are some Shaman/Hunter mail items that have lots of good stats for us (like +int).

I don't miss the armor reduction that much because I am 1h + shield.  The shields provide sooooo much more damage mitigation.  You can loose 100 armor from taking a mail item with lots of +int over a plate item.

I'm currently using the SM shield with two plate items (the breastplate from the 50+ elite quest with the two dragons in Badlands, and a helm that dropped last night) and my armor is about 4200 with my devotion on.
For some reason I find it rare to see any good INT armor in the auction house, is there a lower amount of int items on mail and plate than there is for leather or cloth?

By the way, who's our resident shield spike maker and what are their rates?

my paladin can make shield spikes. Mithril for sure. I can't remember if he has the Thorium Shield Spike recipe. He's in the 280's - low 290's in blacksmithing.

Sabre can also make/install them. I am pretty sure I can speak for him on this. We'd both be happy to set you up with spikes if you provide mats.

Thorium: Requires Thorium Bar (4), Dense Grinding Stone (4), Essence of Earth (2)
Mithril: Requires Mithril Bar (4), Truesilver Bar (2), Solid Grinding Stone (4)

I think you are too low level to equip a Thorium Shield spike. Mithril should work. The mats for either one should be less than a couple gold.

There are definately more +int cloth and leather items. +int on Cloth is very common since it is a primary stat for all squishy casters. Then the druids make good use of the +int leather items.

You should be able to find +int mail. Hunters and Shamen can both use it. You might just be checking when there isn't much available.

lol squishy casters

I usually have at least one of my toons in a main town, I just need to constantly check the AH everytime I guess.

As soon as I can get those mats mailed over from my miner I'll ask one of you to do the mithril spike.
Spike and redoubt should be fun.

redoubt + shield spike + consecration + retribution aura + two or three mobs = pally party!

I do that all the time and put Blessing of Light on myself to make healing myself super efficient.

Just so ya know...the good pallie armor...is BRD based (even upper end) Or go for Lightforge when you hit your 50s and upgrade it, it becomes VERY nice. Anyway, that's my suggestions.

When in doubt...hit something as hard as possible.

Shut up and Reboot.

LF is a joke! AH/World Drop Blues can be found that are much better- Honestly, grab as many crapforge/blues as you can get and high-tail it to MC asap. Good Luck!

I'm picking up any Eagle or Gorilla stuff I can find at the AH right now while I'm rushing to get to the 50s. No decent blues to actually sit around and try to farm for when I could be getting another level.

Anything specific you'd recommend between the levels 45 and 55?

My overall impression of the Lightforge set is that it is:

1. All over the place on stats.
Armor only gets so much bonus total (often referred to as utility). Lightforge seems to be mixed up. It gives Stamina (ok that's good) and Strength most of all. Strength really doesn't do a lot for me as a raiding paladin. It gives very little Intellect and Spirit :-(.

2. Needs updating since the Paladin review.
The recent paladin review (1.9 was it?) made big changes to paladin play mechanics. Blizzard heavily emphasized mana consumption in the process of generating DPS. Paladins can heal very efficiently with Holy talents and crit heals, so the biggest thing that benefits us is a LARGE mana pool. We need it to generate Holy DPS if we are off-tanking. We also need it for long boss fights. Paladins are now basically heavily armored spell casters. SoCommand, Seal of Righteousness, Holy Shock, Consecration, Buffing, Judging, etc. are all spell oriented and benefit from a large mana pool.

PALADIN / HEALDIN PLATE ARMOR

Gizlock's Hypertech Buckler from the Engineer dude deep in Mauradon

http://www.thottbot.com/?i=38455

Rhombeard Protector is a common drop of the wolf mini-boss in LBRS. I’m using this now myself.

http://www.thottbot.com/?i=10451

CHEST: Plate of the Shaman King is a common drop off Omokk (Ogre boss) in LBRS. I am using this myself.

http://www.thottbot.com/?i=5324

Helmet: Whitesoul Helm. This is crafted and you can often buy it for a decent price. Watch the trade channel for someone spamming to sell it. It’s a nice Healdin helm. I use it.

http://www.thottbot.com/?i=24516

GLOVES: kind of out of luck. Not a lot there.

SHOULDERS: Earthslag Shoulders. These drop off a fire elemental named Lord Roccor in BRD. You have to kill this guy when you are doing a Jailbreak. Great paladin shoulders. Lightforge are also decent.

http://www.thottbot.com/?i=16246

WRISTS: Gallant's Wristguards. I need to get some of these. They appear to drop off guard ogres in Dire Maul. Very nice!

http://www.thottbot.com/?i=35636

BELT: Lightforge belt is pretty decent. It’s BOE too so you can buy on the AH or maybe get from the guild bank for free.

You forgot about the Deathbone set too...at least it adds Mana/Second...and Stamina, but, the best Pallie legs I've seen in the upper blue instances is http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37189 EDIT: Not sure how to do links on the forum

Very nice legs. I'll have to keep my eye out for those and do some UD Strath runs.
