Apparently CBS has decided to upgrade everything that's availible to them to upgrade, in the original Star Trek series. Interesting, I thought only George Lucus was allow to destoy beloved sci-fi series.
It might turn out cool, but anyway, check it out: http://www.wired.com/news/wireservice/0,71798-0.html?tw=rss.index |

NOOOOOO!!!!
""We smoothed out the motion of the Enterprise. It flies more dynamically now," Rossi said. "It occupies real space. It doesn't look like a model anymore.""
I say this without sarcasm...part of the shows charm is the cheezy special effects.
"fans saw past "the cheesy costumes, and the bad sets and the ill-gotten special effects" because of the show's substance. "It's almost like theater of the mind.""
^ Yep, Shatner,a nd Nemoy have it right. | |

I'd probably check some of these out. It might be kinda cool. I have to agree that they are great they way there were. The quality of the special effects and sound are such a part of the whole classic experience though. I enjoy the "dated" special effects. It reminds me of so many things -- like how much has changed in film and technology, and how our views of what defines "high tech" has changed over such a short period of time (40 years). It's the little details like computers having knobs to turn and no screens, or their computer talking to you like a monotone robot, and the music having that real 60's psychedelic flare. The sound quality is a part of it too.
