I was reading a bit about this pet, and it's been one I've been kind of eye balling for awhile now, because Fire Breath sounded like a good skill *plus I find the pet to be very elegant looking* ... the only thing is, my lil hunter Night Elf is only 28, and I grew impatient waiting forever to get the silly thing.. *the non caster being a 68 - 69 Eclipson Dragonhawk* .. now I know that Fire Breath works a lot like the Draeni's Gift of the Naaru, which scales by level of the creature using.. so I'm kind of wondering if even though it's got inferior stats, the regular Dragonhawks could techincally make up for it with this skill, and instead of being an actual tanky pet, I could treat it more as a caster.. *because I am survival anyway* and have "Firecracker" just roast behinds while I make with the cutty cuts..

... of course, it's probably drastically unconventional..

The only other question I have, is there any way to increase a pet's focus recovery?

The best caster type pet for dps wind serpents, imho - Lightning breath is pretty awesome. As for recovering focus, you have to be either deep BM specc, or Marks for Go For The Throat talent. Hope that helps =P

I myself favor cats as far as dps would go, Bears as far as tanking, and wind serpents for pvp because of their lightning breath ranged move.

Buy slots in your stables and keep one of each pet in there for every scenario. Whether you'll be killing something and need your pet to take aggro (soloing, questing alone, whatnot) So you'll want a bear or turtle to tank it(roar is esential for this pet and natural armor+Stamina).

Now you feel like doing an instance so you can go to your stables and grab your cat. My cat doesnt have roar because I get yelled at. So i gave him Dash, Prowl, Claw, and Bite. Prowl for more power when he hits, and Dash for when things run away in fear.

Now you're angry after having a bad group and you want to take out out on some horde. Go to the stables and grab a wind serpent. Now he should have lightning Breath and bite at least (give him anything else you can) and if nothing else is available give him growl too. His ranged attack will give you a small head start on the emeny's hp (good for 1 on 1 and REALLY annoying with beastial wrath and cobra reflexes on)

Hope I helped :) enjoy

They may not love you but I do!

Owls do have a fast attack speed but not much as far as special moves. They are kinda just...plain =-O

Aside from the high DPS output, they have dive like cats' dash, and Screech.  Screech does damage to their main target but it also lowers the Melee attack power of any enemy in it's melee range.  Plus the basics like claw and growl.

Nothing wrong with using a kitty pet.  my hunter has one for PVP.  But they are so overdone, dried up, last week!  More pets need to see love aside from the bandwagon pets.  Just spreading the word on Owls -- Owl awareness! Owls are the new black!

Besides all the cats in-game are ugly and crusty.  Except the critter pets. They didn't match with my hunter's hair!   ^_~

Iceball didn't enjoy reading that. He refuses to fight for you now. I'll try to talk to him. But you may have to take some of those words back

So far in my Hunter's Arensal I have my standard issue Strigid Screecher that I usually keep with myself more time than not.. Pretty much desginated to be my PVP pet when the time comes for my lil hunter to start smackin hordes around.. Lumina's been with my hunter since the begining.. the owls stays for sure.

My tanking pet I choose was a crab.. just to be new and different, because no one seems to pay these guys much mind. I kind of see why.. pretty plain jane.. but I like to be something of a unique hunter with exotic pets rather than following the norm. It's just how I am. Though I don't really quite have an attachment to my crab.. so I may decomission Clicker someday.. I haven't decided yet.

Not totally sure about Firecracker (the Dragonhawk) just yet. I played around with the thing for a lil while.. granted, at low levels.. he's not able to fight most of the stuff.. firebreath usually is cast too quickly or it ends up being resisted.. its not at all like I was expecting it to be.. its not, say, like a Warlocks immotilate. It doesn't target anything when firebreath is being cast.. still, when I tote this guy around it seems like I get oohs and ahhs from other players.. (not nesicarrly my over all goal mind you, I just want to do something different, dang it) So I dunno. I might just scrap the idea and go with my original idea for a 3rd pet, which was Windserpents anywho. =)

I do need to keep a slot open in the stables though.. so I can train new pet abilities from wild critters.. which pretty much grauntees that either Clicker or Firecracker gets voted off the show at some point.
