As you may well know my main is a  Shadow Preist.  In the Shadow Talent Tree I have 5 points in Shadow Affinity which reduces the threat of my Shadow spells by 25%.  I will soon be putting the remainder of my talent points into the Dicipline tree and there is a talent called Subtelty.  It also reduces the threat of your 'Damage' spells by 20%.  What I cant seem to find out is if these two will stack or is it a waste for me to put more points into threat reduction.
If anyone knows, it would be a great help!

We talked about it last night, but I thought I would post an answer here for those other people who might be wondering. Yes. They do stack. There are a couple of talents that reduce threat. You have to read the fine print on them though and pay attention to what type of threat they reduce. There is one threat-reducing talent in each talent tree:

(Shadow) Shadow Affinity: Reduces threat caused by SHADOW spells

(Discipline) Silent Resolve: Reduces threat caused by any damage spells

(Holy) Subtlety: Reduces threat caused by healing

So you could stack Shadow Affinity with Silent Resolve, but neither would stack with Subtlety. They reduce threat caused by different things.

As a final note, I don't think that stacking Shadow Affinity with Silent Resolve will be enough to reduce the amplified threat caused by Mind Blasts (the shadow priest's primary DPS spell). You are talking about spending 10 talent points just to reduce threat! That is a LOT of points to spend that are taken from other possible talent choices.

The great thing about WoW is that you can change your talents whenever you want. It just takes some gold. I have certainly spent a lot of gold trying talent configurations. Want to try a low-threat Shadow Priest template? Go for it! I'd love to hear what you find.

It might work if you begin group fights with Shadow Word: Pain and Mind Flays. Then as the mobs are more than 1/2 dead start dropping the Mind Blasts on them. The warrior might have sufficient hate built up by then to avoid stealing aggro with these talents. It would be interesting to try.
