To all who are kind enough to contribute, I realise this might be misconstrude as begging but i am not. I am a aspiring alchemist trying to reach the highest level of alchemy. Currently the only potions i am able to make are from trainers.
I am currently 173/225 in alchemy and 186/225 in herbalism.
I have yet to find any recipies for potions from any drop. I realise that it is more profitalbe to sell these recipies in the auction house, BUT if you happen to have any recipies laying around gathering dust and cobb webbs i would like the opprotunity to receive them as donations for the "Helping Garrok Reach 300" fund. I will also be glad to trade recipies for potions if i can make them. If you know where i can get these from drops i would appreciate the location where i can farm for the recipies. If you would like to sell them to me let me know what price and if i have the funds available in the "Fund" will gladly purchase them from you at a reasonable price. Thank you again for your time and consideration.
Sincerely, "G" Garrok

I'll keep you in mind Garrok.
I would highly recommend that you search Thotbott to find out where you get higher level recipies. There are quite a few very useful recipes you can purchase from Alchemy Supply vendors around Azeroth. They are not always spawned on the vendor, so sometimes you have to check back now and then. Here are a few that I can think of off the top of my head:
1. Everlook in Winterspring has a vendor that sells the Major Health Potion recipe.
2. The Major Mana potion is available from a ghost vendor near Scholomance. You have to complete a quest series (The Butcher) in order to see the ghosts in the town outside the castle.
3. There is a vendor on top of the northern wall in the castle ruins in Alterac Mountains (where the elite ogres are located). He sells the Frost Oil recipe.
4. Flask recipies seem to just be random drops in the higher level dugeons (Stratholme, Scholomance, UBRS, LBRS).
5. Greater Fire Protection Potion recipe drops off Invokers and Pyromancers in LBRS. Grrr, I still need to farm that one myself :-(. I refuse to pay 250-500 gold for it on the AH!

I have been looking at the different factions (Timbermaw, Zandolar, Thorium Brotherhood, etc.) and most of them have potentially 1-2 recipes that can be acquired by serious and annoying grinding/repeatable quests. Hard to really justify spending massive amounts of time getting to the appropriate level just for 1 or 2 alchemy recipes. Does anyone know if someone who has the reputation and skill can purchase the recipe and sell to another player? If anyone has any suggestions on the best faction to have high reputation with for an alchemist, I would love to know.

Selling Faction Recipes: Nope. They are bind on pickup. You can't sell them to other crafters.
Alchemy Faction:
I've got good news and bad news :-)
Bad News: There really aren't any great recipes to get from the regular NPC faction vendors.
Good News: You don't have to grind faction with normal NPCs (Thorium Brotherhood, Argent Dawn, Timbermaw, etc.) as an alchemist.
The regular NPC factions mostly just sell these useless transmutation recipes like Water to Life or whatever. The problem is that it is easier to just buy those essences or farm for them. Transmutations trigger your philsopher stone cooldown, and by FAR the most profitable and important transmutation is Arcanite, which you should be earning between 4 to 6 gold each on.
There is one exception, and it is currently not reasonable for most players -- Zandalar Tribe Faction. You get that by doing a bazillion runs through Zul'Gurub, which is an insanely hard instance. There are some really nice ZG faction alchemy recipes though. I've heard rumor of a boost to the rate of Zandalar Tribe faction rate in an upcomming patch. |

| Good to know. Thanks for the help Trefalgar. I've been on a mission to acquire as many recipes as possible but I've been very unsuccessful so far. They just don't seem to drop with any reasonable frequency. |

| Like a lot of rare items, you can't reasonably farm them. You can farm gold and buy them on the AH. A lot of recipes go for a few gold (5g to 15g). That isn't sooooo bad. In the long run, it isn't really profitable to buy them all. I am doing it anyway because I like the character development part of it. I can't afford the big ticket items like Flask Recipes and such. You just have to go on a lot of instance runs. They do drop, and i've managed to get a couple of them. |
