Aroura - For oral replacements: - Ginger chews - Ginger hard candy - Super Ginger tea!!!
Good stuff across the board, and depends on preference. But ginger is the new...everything. All good stuff that can be found at Trader Joe's. |

Thanks again all. Yeah, my dad suggested Ginger...I should look that up. but licorice was easy to find and suffices for now :-) lol Crystalized ginger is somthing Iused once because I heard it helped avoid seasickness. It's STRONG! but it does work well :-)
Next grociery trip (tomorro) I'll see if Safeway carries any in bulk. I'm afraid there is no Trader Joe's in Astoria. It's Safeway, Fredmeyers, or local shops :p
End of day 6 and still going stron. It's already getting a bit easier :-) |

Crystalized Ginger you say? If that really helps, I would love to give it a try. I've never seen it....would I find that easier at a whole foods store or do you think that a regular grocery store will cary that? If nothing else I can buy it in bulk through a grocery store supplier... but it'll be like 50lb bulk (16oz packages) or something crazy...
I'll keep a lookout for it. |

If you want to go alternative and get your hippy groove on, I highly recommend the Morning Glory Bach Flower Essence. You can usually get flower essences at any natural foods or herb store. It is a rememdy to help with addiction. Caffeine is my particular problem. It affects me strongly and adversly. I have a terrible time reducing my consumption and/or quiting.
You put 3 or 4 drops in a glass of water, swish it around and take sips of the water at intervals over a period of time (30 minutes or so?). It's best to use purified water, nothing special but a lot of times tap water has a lot of chemicals and stuff in it that can interfer (high amounts of chlorine, etc.). |

*skips around on his bare feet* Sounds mighty interestin' thar! I reckon I'll go ta market and git me some fer the commin' week! yeehaw? *shuffles back inside wooden lean-to*
i'm in a silly mood
I'll look for Cyrstalized Ginger and Morning Glory Bach Flower Essence; thanks for the tip! I'm guessing I'll go with Aquafina (pepsi brand water) it's cheap and has nothing in it... but water.... I can just toss the drops in that and give it a good shake. |

| Crystalized ginger should be able to be located at the regular grocery store these days (I know Safeway and the Kroger chains carry them). They come in little boxes and are in the regular aisles - not produce. It's good stuff, too. But the chews are awesome - I get the stuff by 'The Ginger People', which Whole Foods would definitely carry - perhaps over in the candy aisle. Big green bag with animated ginger people on the cover - kinda odd. The ginger hard candies are in yellow bags. |

Day 11 Yep, all is going as planned. Sim is doing great also :-) I cna't believe how far he's cut back! Mornings are rough though. I started taking off the patch at night, and until the new one kicks in in the morning, I'm feeling stretched a little thin. On the whole though, each day is a bit easier than the last. Though 'm sure my salt intake is INSANE with sunflower seeds. Eventhe reduced ssodium ones are pretty salty. Ah well, they are really helping. Is there a program out there to help you kick the sunflower seed habit? cause I'm gonna need help with that in about a month, lol.

Good job staying strong this far!
I quit smoking with my hubby at the same time about three years ago,
pretty much cold turkey. It was heck, slipped up once I'll admit,
but pulled through.
You can do it! |
