I never thought trying to reset my email registered with Blizzard would be so hard...

I wanted to change the email address that I have registered with Blizzard over to my new email address.  Reason being that I no longer have access to my old email, and never thought it would be a big deal...  until I went to the password reset screen.  It emails your default pass to your registered email.

So I called Bliz.  They asked my name and phone number, then the account name.  Next they asked who's name the account is in.  I told them.  (The account is registered in my fiance's mother's name).  The rep told me he could not help me with the account since it is not in my name.

Here are the facts:
I bought the game and the expansion.
I set up the account.
The account is using my credit card.
I also set up and know the "secret question".
The only difference is the I put the account in her mom's name since she (my fiance) is the one using it.

I even asked the guy, "So what do I lose my account if I can't get ahold of the person who's name I put it in?"  All he offered to do is take my credit card off of the account.  I said why would I want to do that, it is my account!?.

Long story short...  Please make sure the account is set up in YOUR name and that your registered email address is current.

Either way, I think it is utterly ridiculous that he wouldn't help me, since the billing information is in MY name.

If you can confirm all of the information on the account, and you're the one paying for it, why wouldn't they let you have it?

Makes no sense me to....

Either way, I'm going to call again in the morning.  A 3-way call between myself, Bliz, and my fiance's mom.

Conan.

I know this isn't the case with you, but that would often be a classic "eBay" purchased account scenario. Someone purchases another person's account on eBay. The seller gives them the account ID, password, CD Key, secret question info, etc., etc. and then the purchaser goes in and adds their own credit card as the payment method.

So the person has all that info, but it is against Blizz's EULA, so they won't help them.

Like I said, I know that is not YOUR situation. It just looks like a bad situation to Blizzard. Blizzard at this point is a giant, heartless beaurocracy serving millions and millions of customers.

That really stinks for you.

Is it possible for your fiance's mother to call? That would probably get it changed for you.

Well, I did get it changed this morning, so everything is ok right now.

What he told me on the phone was that if I had put an alias on the account like Darth Vader, or someone that they know is not a real human being, then he would have been able to help me.  Since my alias sounded like it could have been a real person's name, that is where Bliz had a problem.

Oh and here is a classic for you.  If your registered email no longer works, and your account gets hacked on the weekend, you are screwed until Monday morning.  GMs can only help you if you can receive email from the one registered with the account.

So keep it current.

Conan

p.s. For a company raking in somewhere in the neighborhood of $135 million a month in user fees, don't you think they could hire a few customer service people to work on the weekends?

Good to see it got resolved. Since I do work for a company that my job contains answering a phone all day and looking at accounts I can see the stand on why such a long list of questions. And yes I understand your point of view as well Conanmoa, as funny and annoying as it seems to have to verify the account info with the actual person the name its under, you'd be surprised the phone calls I get from people "posing" purposely to change account information.

Nope.  I meant what I wrote.  I visited them once.  Every single employee was a large, animated stone golemn over 30 ft. tall.  They have no heart and are powered instead by fel magics.  They had to build special facilities for them to work in because the normal office buildings in the area were not structurally adequate to house the Blizzard staff.

...our Blizzard literally grew up...well...Then I stand corrected...although I stand about 24 ft less than they.

So the Fel Reavers are just staff from the billing department?
