I was wondering who else here has given this game a shot in the past couple of weeks?

I myself have been playing for about a week.  While I applaud the game for trying to be as realistic as possible, I begin to wonder why the game feels so linear?

The destiny quest lines are cool and all, but it just seems like the game takes you by the hand and leads you a certain way, no matter what.  You just don't feel the freedom to do what you want to do like in WoW.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Haven't tried it. I like some of the ideas they are bringing back -- like play housing and player cities. I have always been a fan of siege warfare from my days back in Dark Age of Camelot. I worry that my poor computers will lag all to death choking on the beautiful graphics. I worry about that when there is more of a twitch factor in combat like they have it seems in AoC.

AoC seems to be bringing back more of the sandbox play style to the genre. I like that. The fact that guilds and players just fight with each other instead of trying to pigeon hole people into unbalanced factions. That's a good idea to explore.

I have a couple coworkers that have been trying to talk me into playing. From what they explain, it sounds like a pretty cool game.

I'll probably kick the tires on it come August (after the next big conference closes and I get some of my life back...oh, and I will probably have finished GTA IV by then). What server are you on?

Warlox has been playing for a while now.  He likes it quite a bit, focusing on the classes uniqunesses and customizability.  It is pretty graphic, not for kids for sure.  I haven't played, only watched over his shoulder a bit.  I will use his buddy key next month sometime and give it a try.  I don't really expect to buy or play it though, still too busy.
Warhammer will be what gets me back to MMO's I think, I am really looking foward to that.  I kind of hope that Res makes an offshoot guild there :)  Like we were from Daoc, then we branch to Warhammer too.
Well, just an idea, lol

The Warhammer angle is an interesting one. I'm curious if the sister guild from DAoC will head over to Warhammer - providing a sort of IRC channel split/merge (if anyone remembers such things from the good ol' days of IRC).

It would be interesting to catch up with Gooby and them again like that!

Although I didn't come from Res in DaoC, I played it for quite some time.  I would say it and EQ are my longest time games, and WoW of course, though I've tried almost all of them, even oddball near failures like shadowbane and Horizons were fun.
Mythic did SUCH a great job on DaoC though, I really have high hopes for Warhammer.  Their RvR and battlgrounds were so much fun, I hope they did as well or better with WAR.
Anyway, yes, a remerge with the daoc guild would be interesting for sure!  We'll see what happens in October I guess.
Maybe someone who is still friend over there could talk to them and see if they have any plans?

Anyway, miss you all already.

I hate to say it openly here, but Warhammer will be the next game for me. I only do 1 game at a time :-(

I came from DAoC. I liked it. I was in DAoC as long as I have been in WoW, so it was my long-time attachment too. I really like the endgame being about Realm vs Realm conflict. Warhammer looks like it will be a PvP game with some dungeons. WoW has been a dungeon game with some PvP. Mythic tends to cater to my particular tastes more in general.

There was talk a while ago over in the DAoC guild of moving to Warhammer. That was over a year ago I think. They seem like they are still a strong presence in DAoC. Warhammer is a natural move for them.

Warhammer calls me. I loved RvR in DAoC -- until ToA. ToA killed DAoC for me.

The only question is whether i'll be an early (day 1) adopter or one who doesn't join for a while. WotLK's timing may have an impact, as will some RL folks that I've met and become friends w/ since WoW's release (they play on other servers in WoW).

Much like Tref, i'm a one-game person. When i move to Warhammer, WoW will lapse. Hard to believe it, but true none the less.....

I dont know much about Warhammer but Diablo 3 calls my name. It where my love of gaming took a turn and turned into more of an addiction. (12 step program anyone?). Not that I would be apposed to trying out Warhammer, just that D3 is where I will be spending some time. Never fear, WoW will always be here for me too. Its not a game I can just walk away from. To many ties with really great friends that I have made in the time I have been here :)
