| Ye I actually stopped using it for awhile because it was so complex. Now that they added the configuring ui, it makes it a bit simpler to figure out what is what. The main thing is remember which icon means what. Red = the person has aggro, green = they have hots/your hots running on them, purple = healing reduced/mortal strike etc. Well - I have to cut this short to log in and rez Way. >.< |

Since this is our all purpose HEALORZ thread, I wanted to see what I could do to improve my Pally healing. Most raids have the holy pally as the tank healbot, pumping out those holy lights like they are going out of style. I'm currently not using any actual healer add ons, but here's the general rundown of what I do. 1 - Tank charges in, I cast a downranked (Rank 5) Holy Light to kickstart Light's Grace, and to heal that initial hit. I find rank 5 is comparable mana and healwise to my highest Flash of Light. For boss fights also pop Divine Illumination. 2 - As I'm still building up more +heal and +crit, I ping out a max rank Holy Light when the tank is around 75%-80%. This will usually heal them to full without a crit. If the tank is above 85% and Light's Grace is about to fade, I bang out another downrank to keep it going. Pop Divine Illumination when cooldown is up 3 - If the tank is good, I ping out Flash of Light's to the rest of the party/raid as needed. If things get hairy I hit Divine Favor to get a guaranteed crit and bring back much needed mana. I will also do this once mana gets to around 40% just to build some back up. I know as I get higher crit % I won't have to worry about mana as much, but things are a bit tough right now. Any tricks or tips are greatly appreciated. Mkeyai has already been coaching me a ton and I've improved because of it, but I'm always eager to learn more. |

Lol you said "ping" and "bang". Yer so dps at heart. =P Me personally on all of my healing toons, if I am healing a tank on a non-druid, I do a lot of cancel casting. I have "V" bound to my /stopcasting macro, and I do "on-demand" heals if their are hots running on my target. If the target's health drops below 75% I wind up a greater heal rank 1 (on Enshalaa) and push V right before it goes off IF the target's health is full. Basically I am casting on and off about 50% of the time, and tossing my hots, shields, and PoM. Priests and paladins have a difficult time squeezing a heal in if there is a druid running full stacks of LB, rejuv, regrowth on a tank. Cast times are so long compared to a tree able to toss out over 3k healing in the span of seconds. This is why I do a lot of stop-casting on my priest, and constantly chain-cast greater heals, so if the tank takes a big hit, there is 2500 worth of health in bound at any given time, and the other healers have time to do what they need to do as well. I can't vouch for much in terms of paladins, because I never found them interesting enough to level one past 15. The more +heal you get, the easier it is going to be for you to down rank, and the easier it will be for you to conserve mana. You'll get there. And I'm not going to lie, healing has a lot to do with reaction and being able to stare at litle green bars like some paranoid freak. Do some testing on yourself, find out what you average for certain heals, so you can always be sure that you are choosing the correct rank of a spell for the amount of health needed. Enshalaa uses rank 1, 2, and 5 Greater Heal. Each rank heals for similar amounts non-crit, 2500-3500 range. But my rank 1 Greater Heal crits for well over 4k. I very rarely use anything over rank 1 outside of 5 mans because nothing hits THAT hard in heroics. On Gruul or ZA, I am shielding, PoM, Renewing and cranking out a rank 2 constantly, and rank 5 if someone drops very low. At times I find it easier to just keep people alive rather then topped off, because that is what counts. Tanks on certain fights DO need to be constantly topped off (Prince, Bear), but you'll find your rhythm when you know people aren't going to die. It just takes practice! =) Gotta run to class, hope this helps. =P |
